The Faculty of Social Sciences is pleased to announce the annual Essay Prize, for the best essay. This year the Prize is open to non-ARLT students as well who will be awarded a special scholarship for studies with ARLT.

The ARLT student with the best essay on social science will be awarded "The International Foundation ARLT prize" and Euro 1000. All students who enter will receive a special certificate of merit.

Last year�۪s prize was awarded to Lea Honigman from Antwerp. Lea�۪s 2000 word essay on ���The demise of social class, fact or fiction�۝ has been was described as having been written with clarity, as well as elegance and erudition. Her presentation was published on the faculty website. Second prize went Theodore Wilkins from Manchester and third prize went to Elisa Martain from Belfast.

This year students are invited to write an essay on any topic related to their studies with us. The essays should be written in English, have a length between 1,500 and 2,000 words, and need not make use of academic references. A cover page should mention the title of the essay as well as the name and student number of the student. The essays will be judged on originality, argumentation and style.

Entry fee is Euro 15

Deadline for submission is Friday 25th May 2012

The winner will be notified during the summer vacation and prizes awarded in September 2012. The winning essay will be published on the website.
